Award-winning companies: INDUS Group lives SME values and receives eight honours this year

Bergisch Gladbach, 17 December 2019

With its 47 portfolio companies, INDUS Holding AG represents the growth sectors of German medium-sized companies. INDUS differs from traditional financial investors in its long-term portfolio strategy “buy, hold & develop”. The medium-sized holding company attaches great importance to giving its subsidiaries as much operational freedom as possible, supporting them where necessary, and using its financial strength and know-how to sustainably promote innovation and growth in its investments. In the INDUS Group, however, sustainability plays a role not only in economic but also in social and ecological goals. “We want to create lasting value, make good work possible and treat the environment with care,” says Dr. Jörn Großmann, member of the Management Board of INDUS Holding AG, explaining the Group’s commitment. “Small and medium-sized companies are a supporting pillar of the German economy and also assume regional and national social responsibility. We live up to this role by not only formulating our values, but also living them”. This happens daily in small details, but sometimes also under the eyes of the public. This year, eight companies and entrepreneurs from the Group were honoured for their very different but always sustainable commitment:

MBN Maschinenbaubetriebe Neugersdorf GmbH develops and manufactures automated systems and machines for final vehicle assembly in Saxony.
The company was founded by Ernst Lieb in 1981 and has since been intensively committed to business, education and social issues in Eberbach-Neugersdorf and in the region.
His voluntary work includes working for a local football club, which with its youth work gives children and young people in the region the opportunity to do sports. This year, Saxony’s Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer honored Ernst Lieb for his life’s work, characterized by high social and honorary commitment.

WIESAUPLAST GmbH & Co. KG was honoured for its commitment to employee satisfaction. WIESAUPLAST is a specialist for high-precision technical plastic functional parts with headquarters in Wiesau in the district of Tirschenreuth. In January 2019, the company received the “Ambassador for Family-Friendliness” award from the regional “Alliance for Family”. The award honoured WIESAUPLAST’s particularly family-conscious personnel policy.

As a medium-sized virtue, innovation also contributes to sustainable corporate success and thus to job security. In 2019, four companies of the INDUS Group were honoured for their innovative achievements: REMKO, GSR, BETEK and MIGUA. The REMKO GmbH & Co. KG develops and produces room air conditioners, warm air heating systems and dehumidifiers. With its new SLE 45-85 swimming pool dehumidifier, the company convinced the jury of experts for the Plus X-Award in the categories of high quality, ease of use and functionality. The dehumidifier was named Best Product of 2019 and won one of the world’s largest innovation awards for technology, sports and lifestyle.

The GSR Ventiltechnik GmbH & Co. KG develops and produces automatically controlled valves for liquid and gaseous media used in industry. On 19 June, the company was awarded TOP 100 Innovator for its innovation management. With BETEK GmbH & Co. KG, another sister company of the INDUS Group, also proved its worth in this competition and received the coveted award for its innovative production network. BETEK is one of the leading carbide manufacturers in Germany and produces carbide-tipped wear tools, tool systems and wear protection solutions, among others for road construction, mining and special civil engineering. TOP 100 is the only German competition that evaluates the entire innovation management instead of individual products and honors the hundred most innovative companies of the German SME sector with this award.

With the MIGUARCHITECT website, MIGUA Fugensysteme GmbH, Germany’s leading manufacturer of joint profile systems, developed an innovative work aid especially for architects and planners. Under the campaign motto “From the point of view of the joint”, they will find practical and tailor-made information for even more efficient planning of expansion joints. A major step in the direction of user orientation, which won the German Innovation Award 2019.

With REMKO GmbH & Co. KG and Hauff-Technik GmbH & Co. KG, two companies of the INDUS Group were awarded this year in the “Best Training Company in Germany” category. In cooperation with the talent platform Ausbildung.de and the personnel marketing experts from Territory Embrace, Capital conducted a study on trainers in Germany. Both companies took part in the study in spring 2019. REMKO was able to achieve five out of five stars in the field of education and Hauff-Technik received four out of five possible stars in the field of education and in the field of dual studies.

For 2019 this means a total of eight honours. A ninth prize was not received, but awarded: eltherm GmbH, a specialist in electrical trace heating systems, is committed to promoting technical interest among young people. Together with the Klaus-and-Heidi-Vetter-Foundation, the Siegen District Association of the VDI and the Siegen Chamber of Industry and Commerce, she awarded a prize money of 9,000 euros to five advanced level theses from last year in biology, physics, chemistry, computer science and mathematics.

“We are proud that our portfolio companies not only find recognition for their commitment within the group, but also from a neutral, professionally experienced position,” said Dr. Johannes Schmidt, Chairman of the Management Board of INDUS Holding AG. “We will continue our efforts to ensure the sustainability of the companies in our Group in the future.”
