New thinking in digital ways – of ESEF and the INDUS online report

Today the time has come: We are presenting the new annual report for the 2020 financial year to our shareholders, investors, affiliated companies and employees. This year, not only as a printed book or in PDF format, as usual, but also as an online version for the first time. Here everyone can find the information they want faster, more compact and optimized for mobile access. We also implemented the INDUS magazine for online use and are pleased to be taking another step towards digital and interactive communication with our stakeholders at this point. Not an easy task at all when you look at the various demands on our report. Some are primarily interested in the numbers, while others are also interested in background information and assessments. Of course, the legally relevant components should not be missing either.

All the important information is now collected on the landing page, so everyone can quickly find the data they need and can turn in the desired direction without detours. The download manager should also lead to the information you are looking for in a convenient and targeted manner. Whether individual subject areas or the complete report, here you can keep an overview and find what you were looking for.

We hope that you like the result and that it is used a lot! There are other elements of digital communication that we want to incorporate in the future. Whether films, presentations or interviews, the online report together with the online magazine will grow and develop.

In addition to the online report, we were also concerned with another topic in this year’s report – the European Single Electronic Format (ESEF). According to the new electronic reporting format, all companies that have issued shares within the EU must publish from the 2020 reporting period.

The aim is to achieve uniform financial reporting in the EU. The financial information should be machine-readable, faster to compare and thus easier to use, regardless of language, structure and format. In particular, better and more extensive use of company data by investors and analysts is expected when using the inline specifications (iXBRL). This in turn is intended to significantly increase the transparency of the EU capital markets.

A change can be seen in many areas of financial reporting – an increased interest in information and the greatest possible transparency as well as the ability to consume reports in a user-friendly manner at any time and from any device. We attach great importance to rethinking our annual report every year and meeting the demands of our stakeholders. Regardless of which medium you prefer or which content / topics are the most exciting for you, we wish you an interesting reading!

With kind regards,

Yours Rudolf Weichert
